Week 7: What Is Faith?

S: Heb 11: 1

“Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see” (New Living Translation)

O: What is faith?  Faith is the projector, it projects the reality of our hopes and dreams. However, it becomes redundant without hope. It is like turning off the light. So in a nutshell faith is fuelled by hope. It is the confident assurance that something we want is going to happen. It is the certainty that what we hope for is waiting for us, even though we cannot see it up ahead. This certainty informs how we act and move. Think of the chair you are about to sit on or are already sitting on. If you are sitting down you probably had a confident assurance that you could sit and that the chair would hold your weight. Therefore Faith is fuelled by what you hope for, and what you hope for is generated by your belief system which is fed by what you know. Therefore what you believe you hope for and that hope feeds your faith. When your faith is wavering it is because somewhere deep down there is a disconnect in your faith chain
(Knowledge – Belief – Hope – Faith).

A: If you know God and believe in Him, but for some reason you still feel you don’t have faith, or your faith is waning, I suggest that you look back at His track record and expand your expectation. His track record doesn’t lie.

P: Lord help me to believe.
