Week 9: What Is Faith? pt 3 What does Faith do? What can Faith do?
S: Heb 11:6
“And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.”
O: Without faith we cannot please God. Faith is the currency that God understands, that is what pleases Him. How do we spend the currency of faith? By use. In other words, putting it to work. Taking it one step further, you can only spend, or use what you have. In Matthew 17:20 Jesus says to the disciples when they couldn’t cast a demon out of a child ‘“You don’t have enough faith”. Jesus told them I tell you the truth, if you had faith as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain “Move from here to there’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible” (New Living Translation). For example, if you have a £20.00 note the reason we can go and spend it in exchange for goods or services is because it carries value and can bring us what we don’t have or see. That is what makes currency work. Faith is the currency we use to trade with the heavenly realm. Its value is in its ability to pull the unseen into the seen.
In working out our faith we see the unseen in our hearts, God speaks to us and shows us things; He projects pictures on to us of what he wants us to do, be and pursue. Before we can act it out we have to believe Him and that He has the power to make it happen. Out of that belief our genuine pursuit of Him and His instructions, He is pleased with and that he rewards.
A: Write down one thing God has shown you and act on it today, knowing and believing that He is more than able to make it happen.
P: Lord, thank you for the gift of faith and all that it represents. I am sorry for not always believing and acting on what you show me. Today I renew my belief once again. Lord help me to believe.
