Week 6: Restoration

SGalatians 6:1

“Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer[a] is overcome by some sin, you who are godly[b] should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself.”

O: Picture this: A pregnant woman is walking on the road she is carrying baggage, then she falls. Given that she is pregnant we are more inclined to help her up. We are concerned for her and the risk of the fall to her precious cargo. In fact, we see it as our responsibility to make sure she gets the attention she needs. One of the things that plagues us creatives, when someone falls they tend to find themselves excluded or the subject of gossip. What should really happen is, we should humbly and gently help them back on to the right path. As creatives we are pregnant with great possibilities. The prospect of falling is a risk and danger not only to ourselves but to what we are carrying and even those around us. It is often the ones closest to delivery that tend to struggle with instability so you find that most women in their third trimester need a great amount of support right up until giving birth. The heavier they are the less they can do by themselves.
What is interesting is that we are more inclined to help someone up from a physical fall than from a fall from moral or ethical standards. The truth is, anybody that falls needs someone to lift them up, lovingly restore and carry their burden because in lifting them up you are not just protecting them, but also the seed and the great things the seed could accomplish.

A: Who do you know around you that needs a helping hand? What can you do today to help?

P: Lord, thank you for the way you love us and help us up when we fall. Help me to be more like you; lifting others up, sharing their burdens and lovingly restoring them with grace and kindness.
