Week 48 Reliable Defense
S: Proverbs 18:10 (NKJV)
The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe
O: Proverbs 18:11 (NLT) says, “The rich think of their wealth as a strong defense; they imagine it to be a high wall of safety.” Today, building and acquiring wealth is a highly desirable skill. For some, building wealth is their ultimate goal and it is pretty obvious why. Money or currency is our primary means of exchange so naturally, having a lot of money can get you a lot of things to live your ‘best life’. As you go through life, you appreciate the benefits of having the resource of money to get through life comfortably. However, there comes a time when all the money in the world can’t guarantee a solution to your problems. For example:-
- Money could get you into the best medical facilities, and seen by the best physicians in the world but can’t guarantee healing
- Money could get you the best security detail and systems in the world but cannot absolutely guarantee your safety.
Enter the Name of the Lord!!! There is tremendous protection and power in the Lord’s very name! When you read our focus scripture you will see it does not just liken the Lord’s name to a strong tower; IT IS a strong tower. When you think of towers, you probably picture a raised building that is enormous, strong, not easy to break into! Being hidden in the name of the Lord is our most reliable defense because He alone is the Most High God, meaning there is NO ONE higher!
A: When life gets overwhelming and all hell breaks loose, call on the name of the Lord first! The Lord’s name IS a strong tower.
P: Lord, thank you that in your name we find safety. You indeed are our most reliable defense!
