Week 11: Reading the word, The Word is Lamp

S: Psalm 119: 105

“Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.”

O: The benefit of reading the word is that we get to know who He is, we get to know how He does things and these bring clarity and illumination into dark situations. For example, in life when we are faced with those situations where we genuinely feel we are between a rock and a hard place and we cannot see a way out, we need the word. In Exodus 14, we see the Children of Israel leaving Egypt and on their journey to the land of Canaan they run into the Red Sea; the biggest roadblock they had experienced, and they had seen quite a few to be fair. In that moment, they were certain that there was no way out and they began to complain. They even contemplated turning back to slavery.  The scripture paints a vivid picture of the fear, despair and even anger the Children of Israel felt, just as we might do when life has backed us into a corner. But God happened. What we find out about God from reading this account, is that God is indeed a way-maker and miracle-worker if we would just stand still and see it  (Exodus 14:13).

A: Take every opportunity to read the word. If you look closely you will find that it has everything you need.

P: Lord thank you for your word, thank you for all that it is and how it brings light into my life.
