Week 22: God at the Centre - The Principle of Relativity
S: Col 1: 16-17
“16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or [e]principalities or [f]powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.”
O: When you consider all aspects of life in relation to the biggest person there ever has been and ever will be, you can see how they differ in size, power and influence. More importantly, everything else around it in comparison is put in the right perspective. This scripture is a reminder that God is before all things which means that he is not just number one, he is bigger than number one. So when we move Him from the front and centre position in our lives, whilst we may not realise it at first it upsets the rightful order of things and can send us into a place of overwhelm. If nothing else, today’s reading is a reminder that above and in front of the biggest thing you are facing right now, there is God. He is greater than it all. This reminds me of a song they teach in Sunday School:
“My God is so big so strong and so mighty
There is nothing my God cannot do.“ – Unknown writer
A: If you find yourself in a place of overwhelm, check your leader board. Is God your number one? Yes, God is bigger than any leaderboard but for the sake of this analogy if God is not number one commit to doing whatever it takes to put him back in his rightful place.
P: Lord, I am sorry for the times I have moved you from being at the front and center of my life. I restore you, this moment to the throne of my heart.
