Week 30: Do Not Worry
S: Luke 12:27 – 28 (NLT)
27 “Look at the lilies and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. 28 And if God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?
O: Have you ever had an experience where life threw something at you that you just did not feel “ready” for? Most times we default to worrying about the possible (often negative) outcomes. Generally, we either see the situations from a “glass half empty” or a “glass half full” point of view but sometimes it can feel so impossible that we just can’t see altogether! This week’s focus scripture tells us to “Look” and see that God’s love and care for us is certain! Picture this, if the richest man recorded in the bible with all his resources could not clothe himself as beautifully as the lilies in the field “dressed” by God, then why do we worry? We have God our Father, Comforter, Provider and more in our corner. He out-performs every human resource that you can think of! Although easier said than done, we must continually remind ourselves that if we give over our worries and concerns into God’s hands the result will always be far above what we could have ever imagined or thought. He sees everything and how wonderfully it will all come together! Even in the most positive person, worrying is an inhibitor blocking and limiting the positive results we desire. So once again, why do we worry? (Selah)
A: As you read this, truly give over that concern or worry into God’s hands and watch Him do what He does best!
P: Lord, even in my most trying time, help me not to worry but instead to look and see how deeply you care for me and take care of everything that concerns me and my family.
